A Romantic Walk...sort of

It's date night and our regular routine is dinner and a movie or just dinner or just the movie. TheCaptain surprised me tonight with a romantic walk around the Lake.

It was a bit breezy but still nice. We sat a bit and looked at the bright lights of the city. We only saw two crazy people.

One was talking to his basket full of items as we walked the outer path which is closer to the street, the other one was walking along the inner path closer to the water, and he kept saying "Come on b***h!", "Come on b***h!", We kept looking for the woman, but he was alone.O_O

TheCaptain was laughing, but he pulled me to him and said Come on girl, and we walked a little faster so we could get away from that fool. LOL!!! Overall it was a cool night! Smooches to theCaptain for mixing it up!

THURSDAY's THOUGHTS...#9

1. I mentioned earlier this week that I’m basically a germaphobe. I can’t use public restrooms at all!  And those toilets in the box!! Kill me! I swear I will go on myself before I go in one of those! The germaphobia started from thought 2.

2. When I was younger we used to have to go down a line and shake the pastor and all the deacons hands at the end of church. My aunt told me at age nine that those deacons think their penises are clean and they don’t wash their hands after using the bathroom. I almost died when she told me that. Imagine shaking ten deacons hands every Sunday and they all just came from the bathroom?!? That’s the thought that was in my head as I went down the line every Sunday! My germ issues began then. And one of them had a missing thumb. Oh Gawd!

3. I feel myself slipping into my shopaholic mode. Lately, I’ve been spending and spending. A little here and there is adding up. I need to get back on my budget. I’ve been feeling so restricted I just flipped out and started spending again. It does not help that I'm signed up to literally EVERY shopping site and get sales alerts daily. That’s how I ended up at Banana Republic. I was minding my on business…and then

4. I had two requests to reveal some of my culinary expertise LOL! I’m too lazy and I don’t normally follow recipes. So that might be a mess! Maybe in the future. For sure around the holidays. Stay tuned.

5. I want to be one of those people who finds items worth millions. Yesterday on the news a man had bought the original stills of nature photographer Ansel Adams at a garage sell for $45. They are worth 200 million. Today in the news a family was packing to move from their foreclosed home and found a box full of old comics. In the box was the original edition of the first Superman comic book which introduced him to the world. It is worth $250,000 needless to say they could unpack those boxes. The article was titled Superman saves the day! Yaay for them!

6. Can a thought be Green?? I’m feeling this pic for some reason.

7. Score Alert! TheCaptain is totally feeling the new dishes. I was surprised.

8. One of my friends mother uses this really expensive cream from Estee Lauder and her skin is flawless and wrinkle free to be old.
I recently purchased my own complete preventative-aging set from them for much less. I like the way I look and want to stay right here age wise LOL! And I have to say I’m loving this product called Idealist. It makes your face feel silky smooth and look flawless. It's a great primer before make-up. The jury is still out on the eye cream. I guess I’ll know if it worked if my eyes don’t change with age. LOL! Thumbs down on the moisturizer it broke me out and was not very moisturizing. Boo!

Versatile Blogger Award

Well I'll be...honored! LOL! I just received my first blog award from Ms. Starrla, check her out!
The rules are: List 7 random facts about yourself and tag 7 other bloggers. I think all who come to my page are creative and versatile. So you've been tagged!

1. I'm completely obsessed with hand sanitizers. I keep it in my car and my purse. I use it all day long if I can't wash my hands.

2. I don't touch things with my bare hands such as doors, elevator buttons, and shopping cart handles.

3. Shaking hands freaks me out. I''ll do it but I can't do another thing until I wash my hands. Interviews can be torture. GERMS!

4. I can cook/bake really well and I'm entering a bake off with a prize of $5000.

5. I want to open my own cupcake store!

6. My mother said she named me after a soap opera star she saw on t.v. as a child.

7. I almost entered the Amazing Race, but my friend backed out at the last minute.

**NOTE**
Okay after visiting Mrstdj blog I felt remiss for not following the rules of this award. 1. I felt the bloggers who have been blogging awhile would think it was silly. But that's just me over thinking. There a few blogs I visit that are really versatile.

1. First is Don over at Minus the Bars. He is a poetic, thoughtful writer. I give him blog love all the time, and I'm sure he has received every blog award out there

2. Ms. Jameil at The Paper Ripper Extraordinaire has probably received every blog award out there too because her blog is funny and insightful.

3. Goes to her boo Rashan at Rashan Revisited who no longer blogs regularly but kept me laughing when he did.

4. AR gal at Giving You The Best That I Got because she is just crazy funny!!! Laugh Out Loud hilarious!

5. Quicefer at It's Q's World because I've been a lurker on her blog awhile and her blog is hilarious and fun and she has the BEST sex life I've ever read!

7. Last but certainly not least Ms. Reese at Sweet Insanity and Sarcasm is just a complete nut who I can't get enough of.

It's Sunday How bout a scripture?

repost

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Phil 4:13

This verse spoke to me. I find myself at times feeling weak and uncertain about my future. I need the confidence and courage to pursue the things that I want in life without fear. This verse reminds me I can do it with God!

What does it mean to you?

Garlic Festival Highlights!!!!

The Gilroy Garlic Festival. click link to see who was there from Top Chef  has improved and is more organized. We went on Friday the 24th. The previous years I went on Saturday were way too crowded with long waits, and congested traffic just to get there. This time we decided to beat the crowds. We left early and arrived by 11:30am. We parked in the green parking lot and took an air conditioned shuttle up to the entrance. Cool and comfy!

Once inside we were able to walk around, eat food and enjoy the sights before the temperature went from 85 degrees with a slight breeze to Hell! LOL!

When the heat does get unbearable there is a rain booth to cool off in.

There was a cute little garlic mascot and people bought garlic hats to wear.

my favorite things to eat are the garlic bread, garlic fries, and garlic corn on the cob. I dropped my corn Boooo!

garlic scampi loaded with garlic, garlic bread, garlic mushrooms

They have a lot of other interesting food booths too.

Last but not least the deelish free garlic ice cream! The garlic bread booth is at the front near the entrance so by the time I got to the free ice cream my mouth was too garlicky. I could only taste the vanilla. Yum!

I love the festival but I really go to Gilroy for the GREAT!!! shopping at the Gilroy Premium Outlets.
I bought some fab stuff!

Overall we had a really looooong fun day. We got back home at 10:00 pm including the 1hr 30 min drive each way.

THURSDAY’s THOUGHTS... #8

1.I love Bobby Flay but is it just me or is he going a little hard personality wise on the contestants this season. on The Next Food Network Star. I’m not sure I like it. There are a few wimps tho but still…

2.Why did my Aunt’s friend from down south call her five times. She was blowing up the phone but my aunt gives me her undivided attention and hugs when I visit.*smile* She called one more time I gave the signal that it was cool and I actually got a call at the same time so my aunt answered only to hear that a relative was on the news The News!!! Really???? for committing a crime. SMDH! Nothing violent or heinous just dumb as hell!

3. I really don’t like Chad Ochocinco’s show. I've decided to boycott watching it. I probably wasn’t going to watch anyway. He said a lot of disparaging things about black women and out of 86 women his final lineup of 17 only has two ghetto, hood rat, head rolling, lip smacking, black chicks who are arguing with each other! How stereotypical is that??

4.Last season the T.O. show got me when I learned he did not know his father until age nine and said father lived directly across the street from him! Say what!!! This season is revealing that he has children by three different mothers and his two daughters just met for the first time. Their about 5 Yep! looked like ghetto twins meaning the same age different mom! He has yet to meet the son. thehell!!! Why would you do to someone else the thing that has pained you the most?

5.I get to be a foodie this weekend. Yaaaay!!! I’m going to the Gilroy Garlic Festival. I’m so excited!!! I haven’t gone in years! I get to walk around an taste lots of food made with garlic. I love garlic flavored food! They even give out garlic ice cream. Yum?

6.It already feels like Fall is here. The sun did not shine today. Overcast in July??? And I needed my heater again last night and tonight!

7. Usher’s Behind the Music premiered on VH1. It portrayed Chili from TLC as the love of his life and she actually was a part of the show. His ex-wife got about 10 min and was not a part.
On Rhymes with Snitch this week Anonymous said. In regards to Tameka Foster Raymond Usher’s ex-wife.

She is so....homely. Like her jaw is seriously f****d up and whatever she did to her nose didn't help. If she were an etch-a-sketch she should just shake her f*****g face and start all over. Why???? Bwhahahahaha!!

8.True Blood has truly gotten really exciting this season. A lot of unexpected twists. As scary as I am who knew I would like vampires so much! Check it out if you haven’t. Any fans?

SCORE!!!!!!!

I bought these super cute dishes at Marshall's for 16.99 + tax. When I was in the store I opened the box and held them. They felt very sturdy and looked of quality. I said surely these must cost a lot.  Because there was no price attached to the box.

When I got to the register the saleperson went to find another one with the price. Since there weren't  anymore he just brought back a box of dishes priced at 16.99. I paid for them said thank you and left with my new dishes!

I found them online at Overstock.com for 69.99 which is still considered a discount site!

Wow!! how much do these dishes really cost?

Again SCORE!!!!

GP the early years

When I was in  the seventh grade, we were studying the Roman Empire in history and were assigned a diorama project. For my project I decided I would sculpt from clay a replica of the coliseum. I had never sculpted before a day in my life.

My mother and I went to the crafts store and she purchased me a large block of clay.

In my lofty imagination I truly believed I would be able to sculpt a masterpiece. On Thursday night the project was due that Friday I set out on my task of molding the clay into the shape of the coliseum.

So I’m kneading and rolling this clay in my hands trying to make it soft. My hands were so tired!

I had no idea what I was doing. I really should have started this process earlier and maybe I would have made more progress. On Friday morning I took my project into history class with no shame.

I had previously copied a picture from the encyclopedia of what my project should look like and attached it to the front of my board. As I looked around I saw that there were all types of really good projects from kids who did weeks of preparation. Then I looked at mine. Can you see this with a picture of a coliseum in front of it???

This is what it could have looked like.

Clearly I needed more people. where were these guys when I was sculpting???? Oh yeah sperm. All I can say is my very, very, very generous teacher gave me a C- for effort because nobody else did a coliseum neither did I or used clay Whew!

THURSDAY’s THOUGHTS... #7

1. I know I’ve been on this shrimp thing for a minute, First KFC and now the Grocery Outlet another place I can’t buy food from has two pounds of shrimp for 6.99. This much can cost $24. I wonder where this shrimp came from?????? The ad said Shrimpalicious deal. No Ma'm Bwhahahahahaha!

2. I was in line at the DMV to do my car registration. I had been waiting about 40 minutes and this was just to get my number to wait some more!  Why did they go on strike and say the computers were down???????????*sigh*

3. Comcast changed their name to X-finity. My cable bill went from 51.00 to 90.00. The Hell?!?

4. I know I did not just see Laurence Fishburne is in the Predators remake? Really??? That’s something I would expect Larry to do. LOL!

5. Did ya’ll hear about Dave Chapelle? Another talented comedian gone nuts.

6. I love this scene in "What happens in Vegas" I wanted to do THIS to my old supervisor. He knows why!

7. On Rhymes with Snitch the comments are sometimes funnier than the posts. Anonymous said.
“Um, I don't know if you know this, but bestiality is a sin. Humans aren't supposed to have sex with meerkats, let alone get pregnant by them. Alicia will have to deal with that on her conscious.” Bwhahahahaha!!!!

Happy Birthday to Him

TheCaptains birthday is this week and as usual he is going to work since it's on a weekday. He refuses to ever take off work for anything! He has to be near death not to go to work. LOL!

I want to make him a special dinner or convince him to let me take him to dinner. I plan to call him a bunch of times throughout the day until he says yes to dinner out. His favorite restaurant is my favorite.

I bought him these Dolce & Gabbana casual shoes he saw while I was on Bluefly.com. It will be a surprise because all he said was those are nice when I asked him what he thought of them.

I mentioned before he drinks Hennessy so I also bought him a bottle of Hennessy Black. I don't know what this tastes like. I may be exchanging this. Can you exchange liquor?

And of course an Oreo ice cream cake from Baskin and Robbins.

side note: I noticed it's a lot of cancer men celebrating birthdays around here. If you have one, what is his best/worst quality? For those of you with men of different signs feel free to state the sign and best/worst qualities.

I'll start. theCaptain is a Cancer. He is too funny! He makes me laugh like no one else can. We can talk for hours about nothing and everything and he can be very sweet. He also makes me feel safe.
On the other hand he is moody as hell, and can be selfish. He's not perfect but I love him!
Now it's you're turn!

100th Blog Post and Belated Blogaversary

This is officially my 100th post. I would be further along in posting, and probably have more readers if not for my long blog break from June 2008 to November 2009.

I would like to shout out Don over at Minus the Bars (check him out) for responding to one of my posts back in December. I basically said I wish I had the discipline to consistantly post and he gave words of encouragement. Sometimes people don't know how motivating they can be with just a few words. *smile*

I still feel my blog can be better and I hope in the future to reveal more about myself, possibly come out of anonymity, and change my layout LOL!  Here’s to another 100, but hopefully 1000 entries!

Thanks to everyone who takes time from their day to stop by and see what I'm talkin bout! *smile*

It's Sunday How bout a scripture?

 The Lord is my Healer!

The Lord is merciful to me in my weakness and he heals me.(Psalm 6:2)
I called to the Lord my God for help and He healed me.(Psalm 30:2)

These two scriptures spoke to me this morning. I need healing in my mind, body, and soul. And I'm believing God for a miracle in many areas of my life. I know God is a healer and he can heal me.

What do these scriptures mean to you?

Oscar Grant - No Justice! Still no peace!

On Jan 1, 2009, 22-year-old Oscar Grant was shot in the back by Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Police. He was unarmed, handcuffed and face down on the BART platform at the time of the shooting.

On July 8, 2010 the BART police officer that killed him was convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

Click here for synopsis of this trial.

Click here for a point of view and video of the shooting.  If you are a person of color this verdict effects you too!

UPDATE: The BART police officer received 2 years for killing Oscar Grant. He will likely due 6 months for murdering a black man! No Justice! No Peace!

THURSDAY’s THOUGHTS... #6

1. The 4th of July picnic was a blast. Last year I did not attend due to family issues. This year I decided to be the better person and just go. It was cool.

2. Why do the people who bring the least or nothing to picnics and other social events take the most food home? side note: they are not poor or in lack.

3. On the way to the picnic I noticed KFC had a shrimp and fries meal deal for 1.99. Hmmmm I wonder where those shrimp came from???

4. We made a reservation for one of my favorite hotels 4th of July weekend. Talk about false advertisement!!! The website is NOT what the hotel really looks like at all! I was so disappointed. I told the manager I know people have different ideas of nice. But this was NOT nice. The manager called himself trying to appease me but why were the other two rooms he showed me just as bad and smaller than the first? Of course I wrote a scathing complaint. Humph!

5. We left there and ended up staying here. It was so much better. They had a wonderful fireworks show above that bridge!

6. I saw on the news that there is a major heatwave hitting the East coast. Why did I have to turn on my heater last night and will be doing the same tonight because it's cold. Some summer. BOOOOOO!!

7. Each year I switch up which fashion magazines I subscribe to. This year it’s Essence and InStyle. I also buy every fashion magazine on the rack from Vogue to everything! every Spring and Fall LOL!

8. My cousin told me she bought a ten pound bag of potato’s from the 99 cent store for 99 cent. A ten pound bag??? Why do they sell food? Dang Mutant potato's!

9. I’m so sad that Katt Williams is doing drugs and acting crazy. He really is a very funny comedian. I miss him.

10. I LOVE the Harry Potter franchise. Love it! Huge Fan! Can’t wait until November 19, 2010.

Ramona and Beezus movie????

How cute is that?

Beverly Cleary the beloved children's book author of the Ramona series finally has a book being made into a movie.

Although marketed toward the kiddies anyone who remembers and read these stories as a child will probably love the film.

I'm feeling all nostalgic right now. Awwww!

It's Sunday How bout a scripture?

The Lord is My provider

In the morning O Lord, You hear my voice. In the morning I lay my requests before You
and wait in expectation. Psalm 5:3

This verse spoke to me. In these uncertain times I find myself needing to believe more than ever that God hears my prayers and all I have to do is wait in expectation!

What does this scripture mean to you?
