In My Ears.....

 Recently somebody (K Rock )said I was "so Cali" because of a song. The first song actually. That cracked me up! I guess  I am Cali. I think Too Short's  music slaps. I throw up West side as needed, and if necessary I will Crip walk on you! LOL! Here's a few joints that are decidedly Cali and specifically Bay! Yeeeee( bay yell) See how I got all Bay on y'all. LOL!

You Cali people are extra hood with your music! We would always be standing and staring when the Cali sets came on at parties at Hampton.

YOu got some of my jams on here!! Sweet potato pie, Tonight, Players Club, Blow the Whistle, 5 on it. You are putting me in such a Cali mood. Off to press play and wiggle in my chair all day to some of these songs.

@Jameil
I agree! Many of the artists are from the hood and that's definitely reflected in the music. It goes both ways tho. Some of the songs of the south are so bama. We too would do the stand and stare. Naw I'm lying if the music has a good BEAT we'd dance. Why? Cuz that's how we do!! LOL!

@K Rock
Thank you! and thanks for the inspiration!! :) This post took me back!! I was couch dancing last night as I put it together. When I listened to the lyrics and looked at the back drop of the videos I was dying laughing at the hoodness of it all. But as I said That's how we do! LOLOL!

This is funny. I recognize a few of these. I want to play them, but I'm at work and I probably would scare a few of the ladies I work with. LOL I share an office with 6 women. I will check these out later. :) Glad to seeing you posting regularly again! I am trying to get back on it too!

@Mommy+Me
Yeah, the ladies at work might not understand what they are hearing cuz its Cali hood music for real! LOL!
But then again, you may be surprised what people like. It's good to see you around blog land again too! :)

I took Bay Music for granted until I moved to College Park, GA. When I was missing home real bad, I would throw on some Richie Rich and blast it. Driving through the south on the way back to the bay blasting Bay Rap was another thing that I did. I got odd looks at the truck stops, but I didn't care.

P.S. I love this... said...

The only song I know is "I Got Five On It."

I was taking a walk memory lane listening to Salt n Pepa.. "Tramp", "Shake Your Thang" and "Everybody Get Up"... ahhh, those were the days.

@Nexgrl
LOL! See that's how you ride through the south on the way home blastin!! LOL! We did that all the way to Mississippi and all the way back!

@P.S I think I got 5 on it was one of the popular songs that made it out the bay! But it's funny that it's the only one you've heard. Music really does be by regions, because I didn't know who Pastor Troy was until K Rock did a music post.

You definitely came with the California Love. Many of these songs I remember jammin' in the club back in the day. My cousin is Too Short's cousin. I've met the guy a couple of times, very shy and very down to Earth.

Rappin' 4Tay. Aww man, definitely from the Bay area. Sweet Potato pie was THE JAM.

Oh, and how could you forget about the man - Spice 1.

Loving the song I Wanna Know.

Joe spoke the truth in that song.

@Don
Yeah, I wanted to give the Bay some shine!! I love our music!! I had a few more artist but the post was getting too long so Spice 1 didn't make the cut Mac Mall either. Sweet Potato Pie is my jam too!!

I really enjoy Joe as well. I wanted my playlist to be something people can put on and chill with that special someone too.

Mac Mall's song Ghetto Theme (directed by Tupac Shakur) is the bomb song.

You took me back with that name.

New reader here from the Bay but residing in VA...

So funny because I was feeling a little homesick last night so I turned on my E-40 and Too Short stations on Pan.dora and went hyphy and shook my dreads...in the privacy of my room, of course! Then my brother called and we were having a moment over "Tell Me When to Go". Of course, this brings up the fact that he or my sister lost my Ghetto Report Card cd and I'm still mad about it. Anyhoo.

Thanks!

@Jacquie Gee
Welcome! Sending you Bay love to Va! I'm glad you enjoyed my post. Sometimes you have to "go dumb" in your room to shake ish off. :) I plan to do more Bay posts, so stop by again.
