Movie Club

Hey Movie clubbers:

It's past that time. Let's review April's movie "127 hours"

What did you think???????
Please make suggestions for our next film up for review in  June. Thanks!

If anybody watched Black Swan for this month let me know! I'll do another post for that. If not try to watch it by the end of the month.

Please forgive me for the delay I will try not to let it happen again. : )

I HATED 127 hours...

The movie was boring and seemed to drag on and on. I don't understand how it was nominated for so many awards, really I don't. I get that it was based on a true story and the lengths this guy went to survive were amazing, but I don't think it translated into film all too well. My husband watched the movie with me and he agreed that it was a major snooze fest. Times like that you're thankful for Netflix and that you didn't waste any money at the theater.

I also watched Black Swan and while I wasn't left hating the film, I can't say that I was a fan. I mean, it was just a very strange film... crazy even... and not crazy good... just crazy. I did, however, like the soundtrack for the film... I was dancing around my house like a ballerina for the next day humming the tunes lol... but again, a film I'm glad I didn't drop money on at the box office. Not worth it if you ask me.

After sitting in my house for a month, we finally watched it. I thought it was good. I am glad it was only 90 minutes because there really wasn't a whole lot of story to tell. I would have liked to know more about the aftermath of what happened (Were his parents looking for him?) but we didn't get any of that. I hid behind my laptop during the whole arm-cutting scene so I can't speak too much to that. Hubs said it was gruesome though. Overall we liked it. Hubs thought it almost a little spiritual (with all that destiny talk).

I saw Black Swan last week too.

I DID NOT enjoy 127 Hours. There was too much suspense leading up to the main event. It felt way longer than 90mins. Dare I say it felt like it took 127 hours??? LOVED Black Swan.

Black Swan was interesting. I think Natalie did a good job on the part. It was weird-but not in a very bad way?

Not interested in seeing the 127 hours. The guy has been on the Today Show a few times and I think 60 minutes so I already know the story and wasn't really interested in seeing a whole movie about it.

Strange because as I came to your blog to get updated, and when I saw the movie 127 Hours (which I just heard about and really want to watch) I thought it would be cool to review Black Swan, a movie I just saw the preview for and decided I have got to see. Then I read and you mentioned it. I wanna see if I can squeeze that in before the end of May

I actually really enjoyed this movie! I even teared up at the end when they showed him on the couch with his little boy. I liked seeing his inner dialogue and re-evaluation of his life when he was facing death. I thought Franco did an excellent job of conveying the kind of absolute desperation that one must feel in that situation.

I knew the basic story going in but didn't know what happened after he freed himself (and yes I watched!).

I can't say I would watch this movie again but I think it is worth watching.

I agree with many of the others. I did not like this movie. It took me 2 nights in a row and a morning to finally finish it because my fiance kept trying to watch it and would both fall asleep. It is an amazing story, but not sure it made for a great movie though. I agree with what someone else said, they should have spent more time on the aftermath...
Definitely could've done without seeing that one.
I already saw Black Swan.

I liked “127 Hours” It was longer than it needed to be and should have had more of a back story and end story. I would have liked to see the ride to the hospital, and the reuniting of his family like South Loop Socialite said. It has its slow parts but the triumph of the human spirit was so overwhelming for me it outweighed the bad. I like James Franco as an actor. He’s my substitute Heath Ledger if there can be one. :(

I love water!!! The scene when they fell through the rocks into the pretty blue water was AMAZE!! I was thrilled. I did cover my eyes like a little kid when he cut his arm off though. I couldn’t believe he was doing it. Gory but I guess necessary to give life to the plot, and I guess what all the hoopla was about. Overall I enjoyed it. I was puzzled by the Oscar nod though, but whatever you know YT people?

Thanks for all the comments!! Hopefully we can vote on a flick we ALL enjoy! I can't wait to hear what you all have to say about Black Swan!
