On Jan 1, 2009, 22-year-old Oscar Grant was shot in the back by Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Police. He was unarmed, handcuffed and face down on the BART platform at the time of the shooting.
On July 8, 2010 the BART police officer that killed him was convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

UPDATE: The BART police officer received 2 years for killing Oscar Grant. He will likely due 6 months for murdering a black man! No Justice! No Peace!

I remember hearing about that story when we were in the area. I also remember my bf's sister distinctly saying that all hell would break loose if the man that killed him wasn't convicted of murder. I guess she was right.

She was right, the riot yesterday was bad but not as bad as the first one. The police and SWAT and military were in full effect. The whole situation is just so sad :(
That situation is tragic. And the "punishment" is laughable and deplorable.
How the hell do you mistake a taser with a effin gun???
